We are Scotty and Jeannie Cochrane, owners and operators of SJC Cochrane and the third generation in a legacy of farmers that goes back over a century.

Since 2015, we have run a traditional backcountry support block in Western Southland that encompasses dairy and grazing. In 2019, we put our passion into developing our Speckled Park stock, a breed that we believe is unparalleled in the global market for its quality and health.

We take serious pride in our land, our animals, and our commitment to ethical farming. The Speckle Park breed is what we believe will carry forward and strengthen our vision for future generations.

Bred for low birth weights, exceptional calf vigour, and high growth rates, we are confident that our Speckle Park studs are unparalleled when it comes to their health, temperament, and visually stunning spotted coat. Our genetics are largely sourced from New Zealand’s leading Maungahina stud farm, a five-generation family operation.

Our family-run operation is all about healthier animals, better practices, and top quality. With heritage in this land and extensive experience in the New Zealand dairy industry, we approach everything with a balanced, holistic understanding of the industry. Tapping into the exceptional genetics of the Speckled Park breed, we know that our studs can compete for best-in-class on the global market.
